I am posting this for a friend:

        My com2 is on a Quadport-AT (from Quadram).  It's connected to
an ADDS Viewpoint.

        It seems to be working properly as a Unix terminal.  It also seems
to be working with pc-vt into the VAX through the lan.

        The problem is: when I try to use it directly from DOS, it doesn't
work.  I issue the mode command, then do DIR > com2.  I get an error
message Write fault ..... on device com2.

        Com1 works fine.

        The same thing happens in DOS 2.1 (as well as 3.2).
