Not only could it not display lower case, if you sent it lower case letters it printed garbage rather than shifting them to upper case like any sane terminal (like a teletype) would do. In addition, rather than manufacturing key tops with the letters on them. They generated a whole pile of blank keytops and stick on labels for the letters. -Ron
