Being Danish, I have a serious problem with the Adobe standard font encoding. That is, i miss the /aring symbol (a with a ring above) in the encodings. (And /Aring.) I am off course aware of the ability to make my own encoding, as given by the example in the Adobe cookbook. I have copied this to make the roman and helvetica fonts work. BUT.. now we have upgraded to the LW+, and would like to access all the fonts to write our language. Since there are approximately 34 fonts of interest I was a bit worried about the amount of memory taken by this operation. I checked it out with vmstatus and discovered that the memory used was: Font defined to same name other name 1'st font 3589 3400 following 2316 2372 (This varied a bit from time to time ??) So, my questions are: 1) Is there any smarter/cheaper ways of getting a few extra glyphs into the encoding of a font ? 2) Or, is there any way to show characters from a font not in the encoding ? 3) If negative to the first 2 questions, should I be concerned about using about 80K for the fonts ? (I think I should) Comments on this one would be appreciated. PS: Thanks to anyone replying to my previous posting (;o), and thank again for new answers. -- Lars Povlsen, Institute of Datalogy, University of Copenhagen E-mail: krus@diku.uucp / ...!seismo!mcvax!diku!krus
