Upon upgrade from VMS 4.2 to VMS 4.4 some of them stopped working, most reporting timeouts. It seems that the 4.4 DEUNA driver may not recognize (read discards) non-802.3 packets. By using the 4.2 driver under VMS 4.4 (instead of the 4.4 driver) all was made well again in netland. I suggest you try same.
