That way you are able to send mail to gateway::"info-vax@sri-kl.arpa" (same syntax as for bitnet) or reply to any mail coming from outside bitnet. I have been told that jnet outgoing mail no longer involves decnet in version 2 or later, but uses the mail foreign inter- face instead. Since the tape did not get to us yet, I can say nothing about similar possibilities there (I think that would involve a subprocess). My command procedure will work with any mailer but was originally written for GMAIL. Other possibilities apart from jnet interfacing are the use of a mailer via MAILER::"somebody..somewhere".
