The DEC DELNI and similar devices are not useful in this regard, as they do not filter traffic intelligently. One could use a DEC Lan Bridge to isolate each ethernet, but that is expensive. Does there exist a device that will intelligently filter ethernet traffic among N ethernets, inexpensively ? N could be as small as 2 or as large as 40 for the problem we are trying to solve.
