From time to time, mod.recipes publishes seasonal "special issue" collections
of recipes that are appropriate to the time of year. Many of the recipes have
appeared before; some have not.

The messages following this one form the 1986 special issue collection of
recipes for Thanksgiving. Although Thanksgiving is strictly a North American
holiday, the recipes may be of interest to folks in other continents, to see
what we get so excited about every Fall. Thanksgiving is the colonial day of
prayer and thanks for completion of the harvest, which is now celebrated
nationwide in the USA as a secular holiday devoted primarily to overeating.
In the USA, Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday in November. The harvest
comes earlier in Canada, and their Thanksgiving day is the second Monday in
October.

If you have a recipe that you think should be in next year's special issue,
please send it in.
