Version 1.3 won't install new-style diffs. Not even the version that comes with 4.3 does it quite right. The current patchlevel of patch 2.0 is 5. If you are installing the 2.11 patches on stock files patchlevel 3 will work fine. If you try to install the patches onto files which have been localized, patch may botch the fuzz factors and mangle your file. That's what patch 5 is about. As long as patch doesn't say anything about fuzz factors, though, you're fine. You can get patches from me automatically if you send a message of the following form: Subject: Command @SH mailpatch PATH patch 2.0 LIST ^ note the c where PATH is a return path FROM ME TO YOU in bang notation, and LIST is the number of one or more patches you need, separated by spaces, commas, and/or hyphens. Saying 4- says everything from 4 to the end. Larry Wall {allegra,burdvax,cbosgd,hplabs,ihnp4,sdcsvax}!sdcrdcf!lwall
