I see no reason why an ambitious knowledgable person could not write a device driver for EGA, CGA, Hurcules, or other hard disk controllers. Some might port it to native mode 286, or 386 as time wears on. I have one question that relates to all of this, is anyone planning to port, or has anyone ported patch? It seems that patching up Minix, and keeping some of the most global patches striaght is going to be hard work, therefor, I would place patch at the top of my wish list of programs for Minix. I don't have any sources to patch, so I will ask; is patch a well behaived program, (portable)? Also does it use any external library routines that aren't, or might not be found in Minix? I would like to see an official modarated patch and/or device driver list. I would not like to sugest anyone for this, but rather let people who have spare time, and a strong willingness, sugest themselves. The above is mearly an idea, any constructive comments from people with experience? -- Mike Stump, Cal State Univ, Northridge Comp Sci Department uucp: {sdcrdcf, ihnp4, hplabs, ttidca, psivax, csustan}!csun!aeusemrs
