I bought 3 copies of the book at Uniforum, Prentice-Hall said they should be in bookstores the week of Jan 25. The software will be available mid-February. It is offered also in tar format, and the 9-track tar tape comes with an IBM-PC emulator, so you can bring up MINIX on a UNIX machine. The tar tape is also $80 from Prentice-Hall. A bunch of us at ULowell are porting MINIX to the Amiga, in case anyone is interested. Since we don't have machine-readable source yet, we are only persuing what we can until we get it. Don't bug us about legal issues; we'll distribute it if/when it's running and according to whatever P-H's lawyers tell us. We are starting a mailing list for the Amiga port. Interested parties (interested in helping port or just for general info) can write to: amiga-minix-request@ulowell.UUCP and submissions for the list should go to: amiga-minix@ulowell.UUCP Instead of .UUCP, you could say .CSNET or .EDU - they're similar. ..Bob PS The preface to the book mentions the newsgroup comp.os.minix, which was not created until two weeks ago... -- Bob Page, U of Lowell CS Dept. ulowell!page, page@ulowell.CSNET
