This can also shift the whole display to the right or left (or up or down) as was stated also happened. No need to adjust any controls, just reposition the yoke (coils of copper wire surrounding neck of picture tube) until position of dis- play is correct, and then tighten the screws to keep it there. Be careful, high voltages exist inside the chassis! As I was writing this, the thought occurred to me that there is another thing that could shift the display and rotate it in relation to the screen itself -- a magnet! Make sure you don't have any accessory which creates a strong magnetic field in close proximity to your display.
