I own a Star Micronics Gemini 10X printer. I have had it for about three years and it has a small problem that has struck every once and awhile, even when it was new. Sometimes when it was powered up, the printer head would do carriage return and it would KEEP ON RETURNING. It tries to put the print head through the left side of the printer! The printer makes a terrible grinding/scraping/ pushing/knarling sound as it jambs. So I quickly power down and try again. Usually this does not happen but I wonder if it harmful in the long run -- screw up dot alignment, drive gears, belts or whatever. Has anyone else who owns this printer ever had this problem? Does Star Micronics offer any help to alleviate it? It is a ROM problem or a mechanical problem? Thanks in advance.
