I respect the Amiga's multitasking, and I certainly don't mean to imply that Switcher is multitasking, but I think there is a point that should be made. In addition to the much-discussed background down- loaders and printers, Thunderscan software (written by Andy Hertzfeld, Switcher's author) is designed to scan under Switcher while you are doing something else in another partition. This is of course a tribute to Andy's abilities, but it also demonstrates that multitasking is not IMPOSSIBLE on the Mac, merely inconvenient. And there was also the great MultiMac mystery, which seemed a good step in the right direction.
