Dept., Univ. of Notre Dame Lines: 32 Keywords: finder, printer, imagwriter, unix, memory management I have a couple of basic questions for Apple (or anyone else who happens to know the answers) 1. Does the new finder/imagwriter driver print files any faster? I still think printing speed is one place where the Mac falls down seriously. A lot of improvement could probably be made by making the imaging buffer for the Imagwriter larger so it doesn't have to image the page so many times to get it printed. With so many people having 1M or more of RAM I wouldn't think allocating a 10-30k imaging buffer would be that big a deal. A "large" version of the driver could be provided for people with plenty of memory, people with less could use the old version. I suggested this to Apple awhile back but I don't think they did anything about it. 2. So, now the watch hands spin around...cute I suppose...but why haven't any of you people thought of doing the obvious thing? MAKE THE WATCH SHOW THE RIGHT TIME OF DAY! Doesn't this make sense? It's functional and only requires the watch hands move once every few minutes (unless you add a second hand). 3. Why can't Apple post the text of the press releases they send to magazines ...etc to USENET? It would be nice to have first hand info on new products. (I realize the following questions probably can't be answered yet...but I would appreciate an answer when the info becomes public) 4. Will any of the new Mac's have memory management hardware of any kind (like memory protect at least!) 5. Will the new Macs have unix as an option? Greg Corson ...seismo!iuvax!kangaro!milo
