Open up the Mac and another Mac, swap ROMs (they're the two socketed chips on the motherboard - be careful with them, those pins do break), boot both machines, and do something that always creates the problem on both. If it is a ROM problem, re-swap the chips and take the machine to an Apple dealer to get a new set of ROMs while you're still under warranty.
