I sent my $3 to Carter Bays and received about 40 pages on 3D life with
many examples. If you're interested in Life I highly recommend getting this.
He sells a version that runs on the Mac (in compiled ZBasic) for $19 --
it is NOT shareware.

I haven't sent for his program - it shouldn't be too hard to code up a
version for the Mac (it will be more difficult to find time - any 
volunteers?)
