We're just beginning to convert from troff to LaTeX here, and our first
document included a table using the parbox form of entry with a
description like {p{1.7in}p{1.7in}p{1.7in}}.  This gives wild justification
and erratic vertical spacing between entries (got with \\[0.08in]).  It seems
that if the last column is shorter than the first two, no extra spacing
appears.  Examples of its justification are:

        Main   production    bottle-
        necks   caused  by  lack  of
(!)     pro-
        cessing  power  and   queues
        for laserprinter (serious at
        busy periods)

and

(!)     Commands               em-
        bedded in text; processing
        and printing needed to see
        results

Any ideas, we thought TeX was particularly good at this sort of thing !
