Version 18.35 of GNU Emacs is very close to working. There are two
problems (there are a few typos, but these are easy to fix) that are
really bothering me now; 1) the subprocess communication stuff is
broken, and 2) terminals running at lower than 2400 baud hang emacs.

Wait just a little bit and these things should be fixed.
