I don't understand this. You pay to be registered in the UUCP zone. This gives you recognition by all the other folks in the Internet who use domain names (provided they support MX records.) If you don't pay, you'll "survive" just as you've been doing right now. As Mark Horton underscored, absolute UUCP paths will work as always. The UUCP map will continue to be compiled and distributed.
