Start of "hard info":
  Toshiba drives don't make that clunk (at least the four I use
regularly in diferent machines don't).

Start of opinion:
  It looks as if the Toshiba loads the heads when the door is closed.
This is no problem if your disk has enough power to start the disk
with the heads down.
