Our VAX/VMS system does not have a C compiler, and it is not networked
to our UNIX boxes, making tape transfers neccessary for large files.

Does anyone have a FORTRAN or Pascal version of tar?  One that both
reads and writes tapes?  And handles subdirectories correctly?
