The Problem:  We need to transfer whole directory trees between
a Prime 650 running PRIMOS rev 18.5.1 and a Sun 3/280 with the
latest Unix and back.  Both machines have 1600 bpi tape drives.

The Question: Does anyone know of a good tape transfer program, cheap?

There is no hope of stepping up to a newer rev of the PRIMOS OS, so
the program must run under 18.5.1.

We have several Unix boxes in-house with tape drives.  If there is
something good for getting from PRIMOS to box X and vice versa, then
we can probably get the rest of the way to and from the Sun.

The mechanism has to be able to transfer TREES of directories.  These
trees need to be transferred in BOTH directions. (from PRIME to Sun and
back again...)
