This information originally appeared on compuserve. Apparently (remember, this is ONLY a rumor) Atari showed a PC clone at CES to steal the thunder of Commodore's introduction of the PC-10, but don't intend to actually produce one. To tell you the truth, I wouldn't be surprised if it was true. Tramiel has a habit of making wild product announcements to stave off his competitors, only to deliver the actual product much, much later. Remember the blitter chip for the ST's that atari announced a year ago? (I remember reading the byte article talking about it this time last year) They haven't seen it yet (though atari is talking april for a delivery date.) Same story for the Amy sound chip. -- Mike Portuesi / Carnegie Mellon University Computer Science Department ARPA: mjp@spice.cs.cmu.edu UUCP: {harvard | seismo | ucbvax | decwrl}!spice.cs.cmu.edu!mjp BITNET: s314mp1u@cmccvb (but only if you must) "Amiga hackers do it graphically, with lots of sound effects"
