All I can suggest is for you to wait and what we and others come up with for that "MMU" slot. Since Apple traditionally "does everything in software", their speed advantage may turn out to be illusory. Check out the interest in Andrew Tannenbaum's "MINIX" operating system. I expect that ports for the Amiga, ST and MAC will be along before too long. I don't think it will displace the native operating systems, however it does provide an alternative and since it comes with source code, anybody can hack on it as suits their interest.
