As far as I know, the "shift-key mod" is 80 column card independent. That is to say that it doesn't matter which 80 column card you have, or even whether you have one or not. 80 col. cards for the //+ often act strange, but I am pretty happy with my Videx clone. I bought it used, it has no soft-switch, so I made my own hard-switch, but it's not too big a hassle. I have found though, that different software behaves differently with this card... for example, DCOM makes the display a much higher contrast than normal, and it was that "whine" that J. Hayes talked about a while back. (by the way, his "bug fix" didn't work for me. It worked better the way it originally was.) It also "over-scans" near the bottom of the screen, or I had to adjust my vertical size. (My monitor is an Apple monitor ///). Now that I've adjusted the size so that I can see the whole screen, the top characters are much shorter than the rest of the characters on the screen. It looks un-linear (illinear?), but I can live with it. Softerm 1.1 does something different. It actually overscans horizontally. So, the leftmost and rightmost characters arepartially cut off. Using Magic Window II or Appleworks, (using the Videx preboot), everything appears "normal". By normal I mean the way I see the screen if I do a PR#3, in respect to character size, contrast, whine, etc. I hope this helps... --Tak Ariga P.S.
