I discovered something unexpected (to me, anyway) this afternoon. I have a IIgs with a 1 meg gsRAM board installed. While checking my current volumes with FILER, I noticed a ramdisk in slot 5, drive 2. Apparently, ProDOS 1.1.1 can recognize the extra memory on the IIgs memory card and use it as a ramdisk! 2048 blocks of ramdisk are nothing to sneeze at, especially to those of us who don't have hard disks. Up until today, I was working under the (obviously mistaken) impression that the IIgs memory space (at least that much covered by the memory board) was inaccessible to the 8-bit mode. I played around with it for awhile and assured myself that it's really there and it really works. Try it; you'll like it! ------------- Lester I.
