Imagewriters are serial printers which can be used with any RS-232 serial device. No special software is needed. If a program always sends its output to a parallel printer, you must issue the appropriate DOS MODE commands to: 1. Configure the serial port to match the Imagewriter's DIP-switch settings. 2. Redirect the printer output from a parallel port to the serial port. INMAC (phone (408) 737-7777 or other U.S. branch) sells a cable to connect an Imagewriter II (with the 8-pin mini-DIN connector) to IBM PC's (or compatibles). Catalog #745-4, $27.00 This cable comes with a male DB-25 connector on the IBM end, so a gender changer or a 25-pin to 9-pin adapter cable may also be needed depending on the type of connector on the serial port.
