The Supra 1200at sounds like the same idea that Nite Lite Systems sells as an
interface to the Avatex 1200:  a re-invention of the R:Verter concept.
Maybe if you can find a driver for the R:Verter, it will work with the Supra
as well.  Certainly an ordinary RS-232 driver won't work.

Basically, the R:Verter is a TTL to RS232 level converter.  (Cheap, huh!?)
It sits on the SIO line, which is basically a TTL serial Async interface
without all the usual handshake signals.  The R:Verter lets you tie it to
a device that expects RS-232 levels.  All you need is a piece of software
(driver) to patch it in to the normal R: interface that the CIO knows about.
(Somebody who really knows what they are talking about might care to comment
at this point, or better yet, to supply a copy of the R:Verter driver.)

If you are REALLY stuck, you might try to prevail on the good nature of Paul
Swanson, owner of Nite Lite Systems, for help.  I believe he DOES supply a
driver with his modified Avatex.  Paul can be reached via BBS at (617)
663-4221.  He does have a voice line but doesn't like to be pestered there
as he is quite busy trying to make a living as an Atari sales and service
dealer and creator of fine hardware/software products for Ataris.
(If you have no way of reaching him via the BBS -- e.g. 'cause you can't get
your new modem to work -- let me know and I will send you his voice line
number.)
