Two questions (I'll summarize replies by mail):

1. Does anyone have reasonably bulletproof code to reset the RS232 port
(and handler) that doesn't hang up the phone?  The reset button works,
but it drops the connection.  The *real* problem is that a noise burst
seems to lock up my (home-made) terminal emulator: I can type, but nothing
gets to the modem.  (Hmm, perhaps its a modem problem?)

2. There are rumors of an undocumented gem call that tells the o.s. to
use an in-memory font.  (Uniterm does this, for example.)  Code (in
any language) would be appreciated.
