Although we wanted to use Sun's Network File System (NFS), apparently there is no VMS client implementation of NFS, because of incompatibilities in file system semantics. The underlying Remote Procedure Call (RPC) and eXternal Data Representation (XDR) protocols appear adequate, if we can get RPC/XDR implementations for VMS. Has someone out there already implemented RPC/XDR under VMS who is willing to share the results, or at least descriptions of the problems they encountered? I have the public domain Sun RPC/XDR source code and am willing (as a last resort) to attempt to get it running under VMS. I am aware that Wollongong implemented RPC/XDR under VMS to get their VMS NFS server running, but they would not make the RPC/XDR libraries available separately, when I asked. Thanks in advance!
