Unwittingly he simply gave the usual "COPY A:FILE.EXT B:". The AT typically said 'insert disk in drive B' so he did it. The he typed DIR and what do you know, the FAT from B was written out to the disk in drive A. I realize he really shouldn't do that type of stuff (I don't) however I would rather fool- proof :-) the system than fix disks using NORTON. I would rather not use SUBST of JOIN to redirected drive B. ASSIGNing B to an invalid drive doesn't work. So how can I invalidate drive B when it's not redirected? _____________________ David P.
