I got a response from matt@ws.locus.ucla.edu on my request for info on getting
the finder to recognize a new type of Icon, but ucla's postmaster bounced my
response back.  I had already discovered Matt's suggestion of correcting the 
BNDL resource and rebuilding the desktop. Neither helped. Thanks also to
tcgould.tn.cornell.edu, who made the same suggestion.
 
Any  other ideas?
