It does |not ask you for filenames, nor does it put its output into magic |filenames (InputFileName.dvi, etc). As a result, it works well in |pipeplines, resulting in an abundance of pre-processors. This is a mere interface detail. Unix TeX allows you to type in the first line as a command argument. It could also be made to output to stdout. I do wish there was a flag to shut up the verbose messages though. Ken
