Message-ID: <606@rna.UUCP> Date: Fri, 20-Feb-87 20:37:56 EST Article-I.D.: rna.606 Posted: Fri Feb 20 20:37:56 1987 Date-Received: Sat, 21-Feb-87 16:16:29 EST Organization: Rockefeller Neurobiology Lines: 23 We are trying to decide whether to go with Ultrix 2.0 or Mt Xinu's 4.3BSD + NFS. Any opinions out there ? Both have NFS, support for MicroVAX II, source available for reasonable price to universities (all these points are important to us.) It is unclear how much of the 4.3BSD enhancements (e.g. in performance, networking, etc.) are included in Ultrix 2.0 . It seems clear that Ultrix 2.0 has better Microvax II support (as well as other VAX cpu's like the 8???'s) and that Ultrix 2.0 has some of the System V stuff (like shared memory, which is nice). Any thoughts ? Thanks. Cheers, Dan Ts'o Dept. Neurobiology Rockefeller Univ. 1230 York Ave. NY, NY 10021 212-570-7671 ...cmcl2!rna!dan rna!dan@cmcl2.arpa
