Regarding TeX fonts in ROM: 

We got some for a QMS1200 from Talaris a while back (2 years ago) but
the fonts had been edited by someone who decided that he/she didn't
like the spacing that came with the AMR fonts so he/she 'fixed' it.
Needless to say, the new spacing was terrible and the ROM fonts were
useless. I think they supplied the fonts as part of a QMS printer
package and don't know if they were available separately. I have not
been in contact with the people at Talaris for a while, so I don't
know whether they have put the new CMR fonts in ROM, nor whether they
have 'un-fixed' their fix. But you could try contacting them.
