Once upon a time, back around version 3.3, I found an undocumented
flag for the MOUNT command that should have allowed you to read
EBCDIC tapes. If I remember correctly the syntax was something like:
 
$MOUNT/EBCDIC=(DATA,LABEL)
 
Unfortunately I don't have access to the fische right now so I have
no idea if this "feature" was ever removed/enhanced/overlooked/ignored.
I can't even remember for sure whether it worked! However, it sure would
be nice to have.
