Sometimes they make me feel like my face had been rubbed in a rough grimy sidewalk and stomped on by hordes of people slamming to Big Black, and I think Swans are the greatest. Sometimes I listen to the monotonous thump-whack-bam and go: "This is wild stuff but it gets pretty old." Anyway, here's a Swans discography: Swans ('82 ep) (uncharacteristic dancey stuff, yuck) Cop (lp) Filth (lp) I Crawled (ep) (these 3 are slooowwww and agonizing) A Screw (12") Time is Money (Bastard) (12") (danceable but nasty; Sealed in Skin is slow) Greed (lp) Holy Money (lp) (very accessible stuff, nice but not their best) (1 bootleg lp) Public Castration is a Good Idea (double-live boot, very slow and painful) Also check out the superb Swans video, A Long Slow Screw. There's also a pre-Swans tape which I will try to steal from John Reninger sometime :-). Bill
