I still can't decide if it's a bragging point or an embarrasment, but KALX-Berkeley (my radio home) and KXLU-Loyola/Marymount were voted tied as the "Best College Stations in America," by some group associated with the College Media Journal. My guess, though, is that the majority of the voters were major-label record com- pany weasles. Either they're coming around to our way of thinking, or we suck Big Time. Last year this award went to Industry brown- nosers KUSF--an okay station, but more in the corporate mold than we at KALX like to think of ourselves as.
