There are some very nice pellet rifles available. They have the feel of a firearm (5-6 pounds), walnut stocks (straight or Monte Carlo) and quite accurate (1/2" groups at there rated range). They are also fairly expensive at $150 to $400. > My impression has been that the pump guns develop more power than >the others. Is this true? Actually the single cock ones in the class I mentioned above are the most powerfull. Several can propel a .177 pellet at over 800 fps. They are available with good (adjustable) iron sights or scopes. The names that come to mind are Beeman and FWS. I had a catalog from Beeman that covered all the good models of air rifles, but I am unable to find it at this time. Unfortunately most sporting goods stores have only seen the Daisy kind and still consider air rifles to be toys. I would look for an ad in the back of the "outdoor" magazines and send for an air rifle catalog and then mail order it, thats how I got mine. -Pete-
