Muir) Distribution: world Organization: Department of Computing at Lancaster University, UK. Lines: 22 You may recall that, in patch #3 to 2.11 news, a change was made to the "checkgroups" control message behaviour in that the only groups checked were those whose first part matched the first part of any newsgroup in the message itself. Here in Europe, we do not receive any talk.* groups, and the checkgroups message sent out by Europe's maintainer therefore doesn't tell the news administrator to delete any talk.* groups. So I propose that, if a line like: !talk is present in the checkgroups message, that means that no talk.* groups are allowed. Finally, how about a control message to request your neighbour's active file? This would be useful to check that you've got the correct groups. This is especially important because, if you have a newsgroup your neighbours don't have, your neighbours will silently junk it. -- EMAIL: stephen@comp.lancs.ac.uk | Post: University of Lancaster, UUCP: ...!mcvax!ukc!dcl-cs!stephen | Department of Computing, Phone: +44 524 65201 Ext. 4120 | Bailrigg, Lancaster, UK.
