This is not the same as FIRA, which > worries about foreign control. This is the same. What is the POINT of owning a company in a foreign country if you can't ever make a profit from it in your own country. Unless you visit Canada frequently, you don't get to ever enjoy your profits and company, and thus they are close to valueless. This would just result in endless schemes and tricks designed to sneak the profits out -- large 'franchise' fees or 'management' fees etc. If you stop those, it just means the closing down of all Canadian subsidiaries. Companies would rather export over trade barriers to get half the profit than never be allowed to get any profit. PER CAPITA, WE ARE NOT AN INFERIOR COUNTRY! WE DO NOT NEED ALL THESE CRAZY LAWS 'PROTECTING' US. A common market would allow Canada to have all the economic strength, profitability, unique culture and R&D that areas of the US of similar size have. -- Brad Templeton, Looking Glass Software Ltd. - Waterloo, Ontario 519/884-7473
