The problem came when everything worked, and I decided to rebuild from scratch (seemed worthwhile since not all of the .o files were generated with the same .h's. Now all keystrokes' effects are delayed until the *next* keystroke (a confusing situation, to say the least). I suspect SIGIO and/or INTERRUPT_INPUT, but no amount of fiddling with these seems to fix the problem (I haven't tried to recreate the original (inconsistent) scenario). Any suggestions?
