Island, Alias and Wavefront, as well as their competitors, are all on the net, so none of this is going to go unnoticed. For the record: Island Graphics Corp., 4000 Civic Center Drive, San Rafael, CA, USA 94903 Specializes in paint and image processing packages written on commission for microcomputer manufacturers, et al. Alias Research, 111 Queen St E, Toronto, Canada, M5C 1S2 Animation and CAD software/hardware turnkey systems running on an Iris workstation, Pixar Image Computer and Celerity supermini. Does include a raycaster (yes, caster) as its high-quality renderer. Wavefront Technologies, 530 E Montecito, Santa Barbara, CA, USA, 93101 Animation and CAD software/hardware systems running on various hardware including Sun,Ridge,PixarIC,Iris, etc. Includes a famous ray tracer as its high-quality renderer. As far as I know, neither Alias nor Wavefront do animation services. They sell software. There are also other companies in this market which I know less about, including both Vertigo and NeoVisuals in Canada. *** Apologies in advance to anyone I left out or misrepresented. *** Neither LucasFilm nor Pixar "run" Wavefront software. All of Pixar's in-house animations (including the "stained-glass man" sequence in "Young Sherlock Holmes" and Academy Award nominee "Luxo, Jr.") were done entirely with in-house proprietary software. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- #include Tony Apodaca PIXAR -----------------------------------------------------------------------
