Release 1.2 is primarily a bug-fix release. The changes are not dramatic. The most noteable changes are internal changes to ease porting. It is still best to bring C++ up on a VAX running SysV or BSD or a 3B before porting to something else - it is however feasible to bring 1.2 up on a different system directly if the ``different system'' is not too different from a VAX running UNIX and if you are willing to spend a day or two on the exercise.
