The hardware includes 640k RAM, one 40trk floppy drive, a WD1002A-WX1 hard disk controller and a Rodime 204 20meg full-height drive. Dos can be made to format and boot off of this hard disk combination fine. When I bring up Minix on floppy, and attempt to do a mkfs /dev/hd1 20000 (I realize this isn't all of the disk...) the hard drive activity light comes on for a second or so, and then Minix complains: Kernel panic: WIN won't reset Type space to reboot at which point typing space will either result in a reboot or a hang, with about equal frequency. Before I got digging too deeply into the driver, I'd greatly appreciate info from anyone who has any insight at all into what is going on here. Mail is preferable, I'll summarize. -- Bdale Garbee, N3EUA phone: 303/593-9828 h, 303/590-2868 w uucp: {bellcore,crash,hp-lsd,hpcsma,ncc,pitt,usafa,vixie}!winfree!bdale fido: sysop of 128/19 packet: n3eua @ k0hoa, Colorado Springs
