System() isn't at all slow on my system, and George's changes cause
the loss of important capabilities like shell argument processing.
I also find several of the other improvements to be of limited utility.
For these reasons, I do not plan to integrate these changes wholesale
into my version of ispell.  I will install some of the obvious better
ideas piecemeal if I have time (not likely).

If I am wrong, and a lot of people want these features, please let me
know by mail, and I will correct my transgression.  Otherwise, if you
want them, it would be wise to squirrel them away in a manner that will
allow you to re-install them later.
