   I was able to load 2-bitplane and 5-bitplane lo-res DPaint II pics
into Aegis Images after putting the .pic extension on their filenames
and doing a Change Directory to the disk they were on.

   Perhaps you were not cd'd to the right place or had save a size or
resolution that is not handled by the Aegis programs.
