The first which you have obviously thought of is the increased bandwidth required for the monochrome display. Second, the monochrome display has a 70Hz scan rate. This is different than it is for the color display (either 50 or 60Hz, I can't remember). If you can adjust the scan rate of the Thomson monitor, then you should be able accomplish your goal.
