Available from the SIMTEL20 archives and from a number of bulletin boards around the country is a first-rate Ascii text editor called QEdit. Look for file QEDIT130.ARC. If memory serves me right, the correct Simtel20 directory is PD:, but you may have to poke around a bit if you go that route. One BBS that I know has it is the University of Wisconsin Microcomputer Information Center, 608/263-6057 (2400/1200/300, N/8/1) [same filename there]. QEdit accepts any file that will fit in all of your remaining memory. It also lets you simultaneously edit as many files as you like (subject to the same memory limit), with one-button switch to the next one in the chain. Also, you can have one or two windows looking into the chain of files. Includes a very flexible configuration utility to put commands on any key (I used this to put the 40 most common commands on the function keys; I wish all programs could be configured as easily!) The documentation is a reference manual, not a tutorial, but it's not hard to learn to use. Standard disclaimers.
