Try taking it back to your dealer.  We've had quite a few 128s and 512s
upgraded here (the one I'm typing this on, for example), and  don't
have this problem.  And we always use the reset/interrupt switch;  
most of our machines are public access and get crashed by users
quite regularly.  (PCs and Macs both).  You just lucked out and got
two pieces at the opposite extreme end of their tolerances.
